Chicken curry (deshi style)


Ingredients:
  • Oil - 1/4th cup
  • Panch Phoron (Five-spice mix)  - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon sticks - 4
  • Bay leaves - 3
  • Cloves - 8
  • Whole black pepper - 10
  • Cardamoms - 5
    ---
  • Chicken boneless - 1 kg (about 1 inch wide thigh pcs)
  • Chopped onion - 1 cup
  • Garlic ginger paste - 4 TBSP
  • Red chili powder - 1 TBSP
  • Cumin powder - 1.5 TBSP
  • Coriander powder - 1.5 TBSP
  • Methi - 0.5 tsp
  • Salt  - 1.5 tsp

  • Potato 2 medium (optional)
  • Boiled water - 2 cup or more to just about submerge chicken 
  • Fried onion - 1/2 cup


Steps:

  1. Fry whole spices for a minute and add onions
  2. When onions start turning brown, add chicken and rest of spices
  3. Saute(fry with frequent stirring) for 15 minutes
  4. Add potato and fried onion and stir for a couple more minutes
  5. Add water and simmer for 10 mins more or until done
